Tarefic/Wheaties Voting

By: wheatmeister
January 23, 2013

Voting for the 2012 Tarefic/Wheaties Awards has begun.  You may click the selections to view the links as many times as you wish. Then make your final selection and click the “vote” button. Once you click the “vote” button on each category, you cannot change your vote.  You may make one selection for each poll except the last one; for the write-in category, you may choose up to three selections.  Each person may vote one time. Polls will close at the stroke of midnight (mountain time) on January 30th.

Don’t forget to vote for the Brodies at Main Street Plaza!  (There are at least 4 nominations from W&T, so vote for us!)

Here we go . . .

This might just be me, but the best solo blog and worst Mormon internet drama polls don’t appear to allow votes. They just show results with everything blank.

Also, when I tried to vote in the write-in category, the poll returned an error saying I could make a maximum of one choice.

Nat, I looked and didn’t see any other nominations. Who did you nominate?

Brad, I double-checked ZD, and I think it’s spelled right.

CrazyWoman, which polls had a problem? I checked after Hawk fixed them, and thought they looked ok.

Ben, the Turner Bio had 2 different authors….

Aaron, you’re welcome. Obviously the quality control could have been better, but we’re trying.

I think everything’s been fixed (I added a preview for the missing Doctrinal.)

MH: the BY roundtable had like 8 different authors (notice the et. al. in the author listing), but they were all part of one larger series. If you wanted to single out one post, then you shouldn’t have listed one link that included all of them (including the other link you included).

I just checked the nominations posts from the past two weeks…didn’t seem like anyone nominated the Cultural Hall or Rational Faiths.

I definitely think that there were several great things from 2012 that were missed in the nominations process — we’ll have to work on a better process for getting the word out.

I object to Overheard in the Ward having more votes than Expert Textperts on the grounds that it hasn’t updated since like October. Also, as I have two posts nominated for funniest the votes should be combined so I don’t split my own vote (plus I’m badly losing even then so I need the help)

  28. Casey on January 25, 2013 at 10:03 AM

hawlkgrrrl: I couldn’t agree more, but it would have seemed boastful to say that about my own blog :). Also, Overheard is only a “blog” in the loosest sense; it’s more a quote submission board and thus should at least be moved to its own category. And Sistas in Zion, which I admit I don’t really follow, should likewise be recategorized as “funniest podcast that has a blog link to it” because 1. the “bloggish” part of Sistas, the text and images, are manifestly not that funny, and 2. I can’t be expected to compete with full audio.

Thus we see that my competition is disqualified on technical grounds and that Expert Textperts is now the clear frontrunner for funniest blog.

Like this comment? Thumb up 1

  29. Casey on January 25, 2013 at 10:09 AM

Okay, so having read a little more Sistas, I guess some its non-podcast posts are kind of funny. But I maintain that it functions largely as a portal to outside, non-blog content such as Youtube images, and much of its content is technically ineligible for “blog” status. Hey, quiet you, I’m not bitter at all.
