To the Virgins and High Priests of the Second Ward: An Easter Message
By: Bored in VernalApril 24, 2011
Today is not a day for rosary-beaded rumination,
not a day for bathing his feet with tears,
or oil, or any other expensive ungent of the soul.
Temple-toned whispers are not welcome
here; nor silent reverie. And even
Contemplation,
Meditation,
Urbane oration,
Have no station at this cross –
It is empty.
Rise,
Shout him to the skies.
Another day will come to
press a tithing envelope into the Bishop’s hands;
to set the organ on “harp.”
Today is the day to welcome the trumpets and tambourines
into the chapel.
Seal him not in the grave with your grief.
Kiss Him not on those pierced hands,
But on his mouth.
Hail the Bridegroom
::come forth
laughing::

On the line before “Rise”, I cried, even though, of course, I knew it was coming.
Hallelujah! :-)

This poem made me feel joy at the thought of you or I kissing Jesus and in your belief in his literal resurrection. I firmly believe he is risen and that he wants us to celebrate by living lives to through joyous expressions. I long to be with him in the celestial kingdom. Your poem touched me in meaningful ways. You are a gifted poet I hope you will continue sharing your gift with me and others.
